Welcome...

Welcome to PLAY therapy magazine,
I'm Lisa, a dedicated play therapist, counselor, early childhood teacher, and proud mum of three. Throughout my journey spanning 20 years working with children and families, I've gained invaluable insights and experiences. However, it wasn't until I ventured into establishing my own play therapy practice that I truly grasped the transformative power of resources.

Passionate about discovering and crafting exceptional tools, I've come to understand that resources are more than just toys or educational aids—they serve as profound reflections and extensions of a child's lived experiences. Each resource holds the potential to unlock new dimensions of understanding and healing, guiding children through their unique journeys of growth and development.

In PLAY therapy magazine, we invite you to explore the wonders of play therapy and the boundless possibilities that quality resources offer in nurturing the well-being and resilience of children. Join us as we embark on a journey of discovery, empowerment, and transformation, one resource at a time.

Our Story so far...

In 2018, Early Years Wellbeing (EYW) was established as a private counseling practice, specialising in supporting children who had experienced trauma during their early years.

My journey into this field began more than twenty years earlier, during high school, where my passion for working with children was ignited in an early childhood class. Over the years, while working in various roles, it became evident that existing services were not adequately equipped to address childhood trauma, often misattributing it to behavioural issues and leaving vulnerable children without appropriate support.

Motivated by this gap in care, I returned to university to pursue qualifications in play therapy, recognising it as a powerful tool for addressing childhood trauma. With newfound expertise, I established EYW in 2018, merging their knowledge of child-led learning with trauma-informed practices to create a holistic and child-centered approach.

The process of launching the practice was both inspiring and educational, allowing me to integrate my passion for resources that empower young clients into the therapeutic environment. My practice provided a safe and supportive space where children could heal and thrive, acknowledging the importance of early intervention and tailored support for those who have experienced trauma in their formative years.

After 5 years in business, my commitment to family saw a change in the direction of EYW. Today, EYW is directing its focus on filling the much needed gaps within resources for the early years mental health field. Inspired by the ongoing bravery of children, EYW strives to produce unique, specialised and child-focused publications and resources, so that play therapists can create greater opportunities for children to heal.
